Public Health Action towards Awareness, Prevention and Treatment The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Congenital CMV Foundation are pleased to sponsor the 2008 Congenital CMV Conference, to be held at the CDC in Atlanta, GA on November 5-7, 2008. The conference will bring together an international community of scientists, academics, practitioners, and families to discuss congenital CMV research findings and how they can be translated into public health action that will improve outcomes for women and children. Conference topics will focus on public health issues and initiatives, such as raising awareness of congenital CMV, establishing testing and screening standards, advancing treatment options, proposing preventative guidelines, and promoting vaccine initiatives. Emphasis will be placed on identifying obstacles to awareness, prevention and treatment efforts and proposing practical solutions that will help alleviate the disease burden of congenital CMV. Families In addition, on Thursday, November 6, a parallel family session will be held. This is a unique session geared towards the needs of families who have members with congenital CMV.
